English Storytelling Sessions at SK Bayan Lepas 2
BOLD had 2 English storytelling sessions at SK Bayan Lepas 2 with a total of 118 Standard 2 students. The students are excited to join the storytelling sessions.

Chitra, Siew Bee, Karen and Joey, BOLD core-trainers planned this Get Together Lunch for BOLD Focus on Literacy and Outreach volunteers. Ms Chia gave a fruitful sharing on "Recognizing Language Difficulties in Children Aged 6-8 to - What to Look Out For?"

National Early Childhood International Conference 2026
BOLD EXCOs, Ms Chia Kien Eng (NECIC Speaker) , Ms Khor Aina (Moderator of NECIC Panel discussion) and Bold staff, Ms Jess were joining 10th NECIC (National Early Childhood International Conference) (29–31 August 2026) with the Theme: “Making Preschool Inclusion Work: From Belief to Practice” at Imperial Hotel Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. It is a fruitful trip to Sarawak during this hazy period

Dyslexia Talks in Penang

BOLD and Brainbow USM held Dyslexia Talks at WhyteHouse HQ, Penang. BOLD’s published update records 40 participants in the morning session and 50 in the afternoon. Mr Jery Yeoh and WhyteHouse HQ sponsored the venue and meals.
<Sister Melody> Special Screening
Thanks Principal Julia Ong from Sapling Care Center for inviting 15 BOLD EXCOs, staff, volunteers and friends (Lead by BOLD Vice President, Ms Chia Kien Eng) to a special screening of a meaningful film that shines a light on the lives of children with autism and their families- " Sisters' Melody " on 18 June 2026 at Butterworth Megamall Cineplex, Penang.

Mandarin literacy training for volunteer teachers

BOLD’s Focus on Literacy team, led by consultant Mr Tan Kien Hooi, worked with Butterworth Tzu Chi Kindergarten on five days of intensive training for seven volunteer teachers.
The training forms part of BOLD’s work supporting literacy teaching. Explore the books and materials available for families and educators.
Learning through play: supporting children and parents
March–April 2026
The four-week BOLD–ACS play-based parenting programme began on 7 March 2026 with 10 children and their parents, led by Ms Chia Kien Eng and her team.
Activities aimed to help parents understand learning through play, encourage self-directed play and support children’s physical, social, emotional, cognitive and communication development.

BOLD Focus on Literacy Consultant, Mr Tan Kien Hooi had a talk on "Understand Reading Challenges in Children and How Parents can Help" in Jom Bersama Lions and Komuniti event at Island 88.
Inclusion in Action : Be a Welcoming School for All
This event is jointly organised by Asia Community Service and Bold Association for Children with Special Needs Penang in collaboration with the National Early Childhood Intervention Council and SEGi College Penang. Various practitioners shared strategies on how teachers can support children with diverse needs in school.
